2024 Trail Blazers Wrap!

Nov 4, 2024 | Connect, HOME, News

The Sandy Springs Conservancy 2024 season of guided Trail Blazers walks brought our walkers from Atlanta to Dunwoody to Sandy Springs to explore 8 parks with expert guides! Many thanks to all of our guides this year and everyone who participated! Check out our Facebook page for photo galleries from each walk.

Each month we visited a different park, learning about the history and features that make these parks unique.

  • Chastain Park with guide Brian Barnes of the Chastain Park Conservancy
  • Morgan Falls Overlook Park and the first section of the Springway
  • Big Trees Forest Preserve Nature Walk with Helen Tapp
  • City Green, the new Veteran Park and Library Reading Garden
  • Brookrun Park in Dunwoody with guide Sandy Springs Rec & Parks Director Brent Walker
  • Island Ford with the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy
  • West Palisades Unit of the Chattahoochee River NRA with Sally Bethea
  • Crooked Creek with Sandy Springs City Councilman John Paulson

Our popular Trail Blazers series of monthly guided walks take place March – October on the second Saturdays of the month at 8:30 a.m. different parks in Sandy Springs and neighboring communities. Our walks last about an hour and are led by guides who share with us their knowledge/history and/or interesting facts of the location.
