March 2018 –  Sandy Spring Conservancy Awards Photo Contest Winners

The Sandy Springs Conservancy awarded four photographers for their excellence in showcasing the natural beauty and family fun of the Conservancy-inspired parks, greenspace, and trails with their Sandy Springs Conservancy Digital Photo Contest.

The award ceremony was held during the SpringMingle celebration on March 18th at Lost Corner Nature Preserve in conjunction with the Conservancy’s launch of their Friends of the Conservancy program. City of Sandy Visual Communications Manager Jason Green, Photojournalist Isadora Pennington, and Eric Bren, Owner of Eric Bren Studio, served as judges for the competition.

SpringMingle culminated with a tour of Lost Corner Nature Preserve cottage, a walk along the scenic trail funded by the Conservancy, and greater appreciation of this beloved landmark for Sandy Springs and the region.

Dan Coffer, the Community Relations Manager for the City of Sandy Springs, earned the $500 prize in the adult division/natural beauty category highlighting the spellbinding beauty of one of the most distinctive parks in metropolitan Atlanta with his photo, “Overlook Park Summer Sunrise.”

Quavea’, a free-lance photographer, received the $500 prize in the adult division/family fun category celebrating the joyful family bond between mother and child at Morgan Falls Overlook Park in his photo, “Love Yours.”

Maya A. Munoz, an 11th grade student at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, won the $100 prize in the student division/natural beauty category for her riveting photo “Reflection of Beauty” that captured the natural beauty of the Chattahoochee River along the Sandy Springs shoreline.

Virginia Fuss, a 10th grade student at North Springs High School, collected the $100 prize in the student division/natural beauty category showing the jubilance of visiting Lost Corner Nature Preserve with her photo, “Lost Corner.”
